Oxford Lions meeting 1-24-2012


The regular scheduled Oxford Lions meeting was called to order by King Lion Mike LaCroce.


Guest tonight: Volunteers – L.B., M.E., J.C. and Kevin Catheron


Minutes were read by the secretary and accepted.

Treasurer’s report was read by the treasurer and accepted.


Old Business:

Membership Committee discussed ideas for different

a)      fun time events for our Lion members, such as wine tour outings – bowling night at the local Elk’s Club – Day at the Casino – Summer pot luck picnics at Lions homes

b)      Some non-members would like to continue volunteering at special Lions events but do not wish to be billed for the Lions dues.


Perch Derby date is still a “go” for February 4, 2012.

The thickness of the ice will be checked for upcoming event

Advertisement will be done thru Evening Sun paper and the Penny Saver.  Need volunteers to place event                                                           posters at local businesses.

Ticket sale is continuing

Signup sheet for varying duties are circulating and need to be filled out:

a)      Volunteers are needed to set up the Registration

b)      Volunteers are needed to man the Food Booth.

c)       Volunteers are needed at tear down time

d)      2 trucks and manpower is needed to transport Perch Derby equipment.


New Business:

All Animals Matter – a fund raising event in honor of volunteer Krista Bartle is held via the Internet.  Volunteer Jen Clark is overseeing the receipt of all monies received.  Oxford Lions donated $500.


District Governor, Joe Defina, is inviting all Lions to the Third Cabinet meeting which takes place at the Elks in Cortland, NY.  Tickets for the event are $15.00.


New Lions, Kevin Catheron and John Knapp will be inducted at the next Oxford Lions meeting.


School lunch programs were under investigation – it was discovered that they are often more nourishing than the meals served at home.


Lion Carol Kuhn is presenting new eye glass applications.

all winnings were donated back to the Lions
