Old Business:

Committee updates –

Lion Jim Podraza’s Memorial Christmas dinner went well and brought more guests to the Parish House in Oxford.  Any leftover foods remained at the Soup Kitchen.  The donations from our dinner guests were appreciated by the Lions.

  1. Lion Gray suggested that in future we plan on advertising more before the event – the completion of the Oxford Bridge will make an easier access to the Parish House.
  2. It was also suggested that we start serving meals a bit earlier as it is difficult to keep food at proper hot temperatures.

Perch Derby Event 2012 – is still scheduled for the first February week, depending on ice conditions on the lake, and Lion Mike Mayhood will keep us updated on this.  The Perch Derby Raffle will take place either on the scheduled Feb. 4th date or the postponed date of February 18th.  Lions in charge of the event are meeting at the Blue Ox trailer on TUE, Jan. 17, 2012.

Membership committee – will hold a short meeting tonight after the regular Lions meeting.

  1. Some Lions wish to assist at Lions events from time to time when they are able, without having to pay the dues.
  2. Forming an independent Oxford Volunteer organization is under discussion.  However, we need to compare benefits by having the International Lions Umbrella for insurance purposes or to seek our own club insurance for our scheduled events.

Website update – King Lion Mike continues to work on creating our own Oxford Lions Website.  At present the website will remain as is, therefore, Perch Derby participants can access the site and print out their Perch Derby applications.

New Business:

  1. We received a Thank-you from the Oxford Holiday Committee for our $500 donation.
  2. Long time Lion member, John Godfrey, resigned in good standing.  We accept his resignation with regret.
  3. Camp Badger donation request – was received, and the Oxford Lions donated $250 to the facility.
  4. SPCA – Valentine “Fur-Ball-Fundraising Event” on February 11th, 2012 from 7-11pm at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich.
